mission

subshape creates a network of connections. Creativity, art and open dialogues are our essential tools to realise these connections and to make a positive impact on mental well-being. We are committed to nurturing minds and spirits by creating a safe space for (young) adults, artists and creatives, (healthcare) professionals and especially marginalised groups within society to not only share the beautiful things in life, but especially the challenges, injustices and personal struggles with respect and understanding for ourselves and each other.

Life consists of trial and error. As a result, we are constantly in motion: we change, learn, grow, evolve. subshape does the same.

With new stories, perspectives and knowledge, we keep evolving and want to inform and, above all, inspire you. In turn, we are informed and inspired by you. The collective network that forms this way works through the connection we have with ourselves as well as the world around us.

Our vision for a better world

Everyone has the right to space for themselves, for self-development and discovery. That space is not always available and certainly not for everyone. subshape wants a happier life for you in a world where you are allowed to be, to feel heard and seen with everything you carry with you in life.

Psychological well-being transcends the boundaries of countries, cultures and our personal views on the world and life. With subshape, we aim to create an accessible and national platform in the Netherlands, sharing knowledge, expertise, experiences and art for the purpose of personal and social growth and development. Creativity and inspiring each other are among our core values, steering us towards intriguing stories and a more inclusive world.

Seeing and being seen, listening and feeling heard…at subshape, there is a safe space for you and your story.

Our goals

  • Accessible healthcare
We aim to make mental healthcare more accessible to marginalised groups and expats by providing accessible information about healthcare providers in the Netherlands.

  • To stimulate dialogues and destigmatise
We wish to stimulate dialogues regarding mental health as a form of destigmatisation. By discussing (sensitive) topics concerning mental well-being that interface with (cultural) diversity, inclusiveness, art and creativity in a safe environment, we aim to broaden views, broaden perspectives, share knowledge and experiences of (healthcare) professionals, artists and you.

  • To share the impact of creativity and art on well-being
We believe in the impact of creativity and art on psychological well-being and want to share this with you. Creativity nourishes and art connects. These have a positive impact on human well-being and the power to make life more beautiful and sometimes more bearable. With subshape, we not only want to share the importance of creativity and art, but also make art more accessible. At subshape, we therefore also focus on increasing the visibility of artists, their professional visions and the roles art plays (for them) in life.

  • To expand networks and connect people
We wish to expand networks: connecting people with themselves, but also with each other by bringing people together not only physically, but also through a digital platform. With this, we create a safe haven to tell your story with the aim of feeling supported, seen and heard, as well as for personal growth and self-development. In this way, people can find recognition from others. You are not alone. There is understanding, support and, above all, respect for each other. By bringing people from diverse backgrounds together, we not only encourage connections and broadening one’s own horizons, but also collaborations (professionally).
